Start with equipment, not a socket count
List the equipment each supplier intends to use in and around the marquee. Include lighting, catering equipment, refrigeration if required, sound, screens and other separately arranged services. Ask each supplier for its actual electrical requirements and operating times rather than estimating from the number of plugs you can see.
For Peterborough marquee hire, the venue supply and any alternative provision must be considered by the relevant competent suppliers. An available household socket or a generator in a photograph does not establish that the proposed event has a suitable power arrangement.
Build a power schedule
| Record for each item or supplier | Why the information belongs in the brief |
|---|---|
| Equipment and requirements | The people assessing the supply need the actual specification. |
| Position and operating time | Installation routes and simultaneous use need coordination. |
| Supply responsibility | Identify who provides, connects and manages the agreed equipment. |
| Cable route and guest movement | Bring crossings and shared routes to the installation discussion. |
| Event contact | Know who can deal with a supplier equipment issue. |
Resolve the interfaces
Ask who supplies distribution, any generator, external route lighting and the connection arrangements. Confirm whether these items appear in the marquee proposal or a separate supplier agreement. Give the venue and suppliers the same latest layout so equipment positions do not conflict with entrances or service areas.
The host’s task is to gather accurate requirements and allocate responsibilities. This guide does not design an electrical system, set cable sizes, certify a supply or instruct you to connect equipment. Do not add or move electrical items outside the agreed arrangement.
Check late additions
A last-minute food appliance, extra lighting feature or entertainment change can alter the brief. Raise it with the responsible suppliers before the event and update the equipment schedule. Keep the agreed contact and operating instructions with the event paperwork so someone can reach the right supplier when needed.
